Walk Back in Time was held on the Museum site in Mexico, Missouri. The event took place on September 28. 2007 for students from the local schools. September 29 and 30 was open to the public with thousands of people attending. There was a lot to see from various eras, from the 1700's to the present time.

Some of the tents that were used back then, did not offer much protection or convenience. Even in a mild storm, the occupant will get wet.

 

Flintknappers showed how the early Native Americans made arrow, spear heads and tools from flint. These flint tools were very sharp.

 

Tipis were used mainly by indians, although many other folks also used them. At the top, it is called a smoke hole. A fire could be built inside for warmth and cooking. The smoke went out the hole and not bother anyone inside. It also let heat out in the summer.

 

Some supplies used by the early Mountain Man were blankets, rifle, extra ammunition, backpack and warm clothing.

Also, some food stuffs, such as salt, flour, coffee and tobacco.

They would hunt for other food like meat, cattail root, wild garlic and other spices.
